lydian

A major mode with a sharp fourth: floating and weightless, the wondrous major.

Major with one note lifted: a sharp fourth where the major scale has a natural one. That raised fourth removes the pull the normal fourth has toward home, leaving a bright, floating, weightless major, the sound of wonder and film-score awe. Its characteristic note is the sharp 4th.
